Elina Strandberg
Olen kuvanveistäjä ja maalari. Opiskelin Kuvataideakatemiassa vuodesta 1996 ja valmistuin sieltä vuonna 2002 kuvataiteen maisteriksi kuvanveiston osastolta. Tätä ennen opiskelin Taideteollisessa korkeakoulussa (nykyinen Aalto yliopisto) kuvaamataidonopettajalinjalla 80-luvulla.
Viime aikoina rakentamani veistoksetovat olleet tilan ja sen valon innoittamia installaatioita. Valo, varjot ja hauraat materiaalit kiinnostavat minua. Olen tehnyt paljon myös keramiikkaa, josta tein myös lopputyön...

Tarkastelen teoksissani luonnon ja kulttuurin liitoskohtia; tapaa, jolla ihminen pyrkii valjastamaan luontoa tarpeisiinsa. Rakennan installaatioita eläinolennoista ja kysyn, miten katsomme eläimiä? Mitä on luonto? Millä lailla ihmisen toiminta jättää jälkiä ympäristöön?
Minua inspiroivat pohjoisen luonnon karunkarheat piirteet ja siinä näkyvät merkit ihmisen ponnisteluista. Teosteni aiheet kumpuavat työskentely-ympäristöstäni.
